James Rushton is a veterinary ophthalmologist who completed a PhD before undertaking a residency with the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmology, achieving board certification in 2018. He is recognised as both an RCVS and EBVS Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology.

James has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has spoken at numerous national and international conferences, including the London Vet Show, BVA Live, several ECVO and ACVO conferences, the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmology, and the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium.

Since 2021, he has been Head of Ophthalmology at Paragon Referrals- in charge of a team of 6 veterinary ophthalmologists- having previously spent five years in private referral practice in the South West of the UK. James also serves as a panellist for the BVA/Kennel Club/ISDS eye scheme and is a subject matter expert in Veterinary Ophthalmology for Mars Veterinary Health.
