DVM, PhD

Bio

In 1994, I founded Kanai Veterinary Surgery in Himeji City (near Osaka).

Throughout my career, I've attended training courses in soft tissue, orthopedic, minimally invasive, and endoscopic surgery. In 2013, I co-founded a research group called SAMIT (Small Animal Minimally Invasive Treatment). In 2022, I graduated with a PhD in veterinary medicine, specializing in endoscopic surgery.

I am currently a visiting researcher at Osaka Metropolitan University, a member of the Veterinary Endoscopic Society (VES), and a scientific adviser for Karl Storz Japan. I am an executive officer of the Kaminote Challenge Executive Committee, a general incorporated association, and I am promoting endoscopic surgery training through origami crane folding with doctors of human medicine. I also started an online forum called VET@MIS-HUB to enhance communication about veterinary minimally invasive surgery.

Now I live in Himeji, a city noted for its 17th-century architecture and Japan's largest castle. My family consists of my wife, two cats, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I adore music, especially classical music.
